Winter Classes
January 12 - Febraury 21
All levels class, focused primarily on wheel throwing. Advanced students may work independently with help from instructor, or be guided through chosen projects throughout the session. Beginners will be exposed to the basics of wheel throwing and the steps between a ball of clay and a fired, finished piece. Please bring an old towel and/or apron and a beginner pottery kit (available at Michael's, Blick, and online).

In this class, we will cover pottery made to hold food and beverage as well as decorative pieces. Demonstrations will include beginner to advanced pottery wheel throwing techniques. Some hand-building and glazing techniques will also be demonstrated.

Let’s explore the wonderful world of watercolor paint! This class is a beginner's guide to getting started with watercolor painting. We will begin by exploring watercolor materials and the basics of watercolor painting. Then, we will dabble in some color theory and maybe even use some “unlikely” materials! We will complete exercises and projects to apply what we learn.
On Week 1, we will explore materials and give a supply list for this course. Feel free to bring any watercolor materials that you may already have.
*This class will not meet on January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 5 weeks.

This color theory class teaches color mixing, color relationships, and how to use color to create specific moods or effects in your art.

Have fun designing characters and draw in whatever style you want - realism, manga, comics, anime, and cartoons. Build your
illustration skills while drawing anatomy, character poses, clothing, and animals. Examples and inspirations change for each session. Class can be repeated multiple times. All that's needed is your sketchbook and a pencil - digital drawing devices are also welcome.
Supply List: Sketchbook (8x10 inches or larger), pencil, and eraser.

Learn how to draw and develop a variety of characters, from cute cartoon animals to fearsome fantastical beasts. Explore different area of concept art by designing accessories, props, backgrounds and more with the characters you create in this class. If you are just beginning, or getting back to painting, come join us in a fun studio atmosphere class. You will work at your own pace and paint what you want. The instructor will be there to guide you and answer questions. Open to all skill levels, beginner to advanced, working in any medium you wish. Bring your own supplies. (if using oil paints, please use odorless products.)

Learn all about the exciting history of comics while creating your very own! We will start back in time from square one and discuss the origins of the medium, working our way up to the wide variety of comics as we know them in the modern age. Students will leave this class with plentiful knowledge and passion for comics as well as several of their own creations! We will also learn about character creation and storyboarding.

Complete a Bob Ross landscape painting in just one class…even if you have never painted before! That’s the magic of the techniques used by Bob Ross in his popular TV series, the Joy of Painting ®. Bob Ross Certified Instructor Jeremy Rogers walks you through step by step how to paint a beautiful Ross landscape, complete with "happy trees"! This is a light-hearted painting class totally focused on creating beauty and having fun! (Only Bob Ross supplies are used to give you an authentic experience.)
Please bring a roll of paper towels, small pkg of baby wipes and a cardboard box to carry your piece of art home with you—the paint will still be wet! The box needs to be big enough to hold a 12”x16” canvas.

Please bring a printed photo to use as your reference. If you do not have access to a printer, you can take an image from a magazine or book.

In this one-day workshop, you will create at least one character design using the very same methods professional designer use to create their characters! Students will learn about the animation pipeline as it pertains to concept artists and character designers, all while practicing their techniques yourself.
