Fall 2 Classes

Open Studio: Pottery on the Wheel (Tues AM)

This is an instructor-free open studio style class. Students registering for this class must have pottery knowledge and have previously taken pottery at The Art Station. Students must be able to work independently. TAS staff will load and fire kilns on students' behalf. Students will be notified via email once pottery is fired and ready to be picked up.

 

Students will have access to the pottery studio on TUESDAYS from 10 am - 2 pm ONLY.  Class fee covers studio usage, 1 bag of clay, bucket glazes and firings.

Intro to Watercolor Painting

​Let’s explore the wonderful world of watercolor paint! This class is a beginners guide to getting started with this medium. We will explore the basics of watercolor painting, dabble in some Color Theory, and use some interesting techniques with a few “unlikely” materials! We will practice and complete multiple projects applying what we learn.

Let's Quilt! - For Beginners

Come quilt with us! We will be starting with the basics: fabric, color, cutting mats, rotary cutters and grid rulers.  We will be cutting patches and learning to sew them on a machine, or by hand.  Your choice!

By the end of the class, each participant will have made a simple project.  

Supplies provided for first class, then a supply list for things to be purchased for remaining classes to be brought in for the remaining classes. Please bring your own sewing machine.

Drawing Guided Open Studio

In this 6-week class we will work on different still life setups with various techniques with graphite, charcoal, color pencils, and/or pastel. Artists and students can improve their skills in an enjoyable open studio environment.

 

Open studio classes are best enjoyed if you already have some experience with basic drawing and painting techniques/principles.

Plein Air Painting (Let's Get Outside!)

Step outside the studio and paint from life! This class will be held at Green Meadows Preserve (3780 Dallas Hwy, Marietta). We will start a new piece each week.

 

All painting mediums welcome. Painting experience needed. We will go over composition choices, and tricks for "seeing" your subject. This is a 4 week class.

Painter's Guided Open Studio

If you are just beginning, or getting back to painting, come join us in a fun studio atmosphere class. You will work at your own pace and paint what you want. The instructor will be there to guide you and answer questions. Open to all skill levels, beginner to advanced, working in any medium you wish. Bring your own supplies. (if using oil paints, please use odorless products.) 

Students to bring their own supplies to paint in the medium of their choice. Call with any questions.

Character Drawing: Manga & Comics

Pottery on the Wheel with Holly

All levels class, focused primarily on wheel throwing. Advanced students may work independently with help from instructor, or be guided through chosen projects throughout the session. Beginners will be exposed to the basics of wheel throwing and the steps between a ball of clay and a fired, finished piece. Please bring an old towel and/or apron and a beginner pottery kit (available at Michael's, Blick, and online). 

 

**Students dress to get messy and bring a basic pottery tool kit, and a towel and/or apron.

Pottery on the Wheel - All Levels with Clay Sowell

In this class, we will cover pottery made to hold food and beverage as well as decorative pieces. Demonstrations will include beginner to advanced pottery wheel throwing techniques. Some handbuilding and glazing techniques will also be demonstrated.

**Students should bring a basic pottery tool kit, an old towel, and an apron/clothes that can get messy.

Candle Making Studio
