Beginning Pottery (Tues AM)
Come and experience throwing pottery on the wheel! Lots of fun and a great stress reliever, this class is for individuals who have never taken pottery or who need a refresher course. Students will learn the basics of wheel throwing: wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, and studio etiquette. Want to try something more challenging to master your craft? Join us for Intermediate Advanced Pottery at the Art Station to help refine your throwing skills. Every week our instructors will teach a different technique in a fun and comfortable learning environment. Students will learn about form, function and how to master their skills with their own creative style. Beginning pottery experience is required. Watercolor Painting
Explore watercolor’s unique characteristics while creating beautiful paintings. Start with the fundamentals, learn about color theory, and experiment with textures to make your painting stand out and wow the viewer. We will cover a wide range of subjects to suit all tastes. This class will allow you to express yourself through color and texture. We will use acrylic paints, markers, collage, pen and ink, and spray bottles to create unique abstract florals. All levels of ability are welcome! Supply list will be provided first day of class. Fees: $112 (R) / $168 (NR) Supply Fee: List Instructor: Christy Hayes 9682 (8 weeks) Tuesday September 3 - October 29 10:00am - 12:00pm Charcoal Drawing Students will learn the techniques for charcoal drawing. We will start with the fundamentals, focusing on the principles of design. This class will cover a variety of subject matters, such as, still-life, portraits, and landscapes. This class in open for artists of all skill levels. You will work at your own pace and paint what you want. The instructor will be there to guide you and answer questions. Classes will not meet September 27 for Fall Break. Piano Lessons
These one on one 30 minute lessons provide an introduction to piano with emphasis on balancing harmony and melody, major and minor chords, and learning the keyboard. Students will be expected to practice between lessons. Sessions for guitar and vocals also available. Students need to bring their own guitars to class and practice between sessions. Classes will NOT meet during Fall Break (September 23-September 27). Step out of your comfort zone and learn a new collage art technique! We will begin an underpainting of Fall Aspen Trees. For the collage, you will create your own hand painted papers exclusively with GEL Plate mono printing techniques. Then collage these prints overtop your underpainting. The finished piece will be a representation of you using the torn papers you make yourself. All levels of painting experience are welcome. Most supplies will be provided, but you will need to bring Liquitex Gel Gloss Medium, a filbert brush, and ephemera papers (such as old recipes, sheet music, letters, school papers, etc). No slick papers, magazines, or scissors! The model will be in costume for a maximum of 20 minute poses. Bring your dry mediums! These gourds make beautiful centerpieces for your table or decorations for your foyer. Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. Withdrawal and Refund Policy
Registration fees are 100% refundable when the department cancels the activity. A participant wishing to withdraw from a class that has not been cancelled by the department must provide request at least seven days before the scheduled start of the class. They may receive 100% credit to the family's account or may request a refund. Within the week prior to the scheduled start of a class refund/credits will not be given except for verified medical/hardship cases. Refunds for payment made by cash or check will be received approximately 2-4 weeks after the refund is requested.
