Summer Camp Rules and Instructions

These rules are intended to ensure the safety of all our campers.  Please read and follow them carefully.

Day 1: Plan to arrive 15 minutes early on the first day of camp to fill out your child(ren)'s Hold Harmless Agreement, pick up their nametag(s), and meet the summer camp staff. EACH CHILD MUST HAVE A COMPLETED HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT ON FILE TO PROCEED TO CLASS.

Behavior: Our goal is to provide a safe, positive learning environment for all our campers. Please understand that behaviors that compromise our goal cannot be tolerated. Parents will be called and asked to pick up their child if their behavior is disruptive to the class or endangers themselves or others. Also, after the third such incident, you will be asked to remove your child permanently from camp and no refund will be issued.

Medical Conditions / Medications: Please inform the TAS front office staff of any special circumstances your child(ren) may have, prior to the first day of camp/class so we have time to help make any special accommodations as needed. (This information should also be noted on the Hold Harmless Agreement.) All medications must be delivered to the front desk in a bag with the child(ren)'s name(s) on it and written instructions (as well as instructions on how to store it onsite.) Especially in the case of allergic reactions, those instructions should include who to contact and any immediate action that needs to be taken. All medications should be picked up from the front desk on the last day of camp. Every effort will be made to contact you about forgotten medications; however, due to storage constraints, all unclaimed medications will be properly disposed of in August.

Arrival / Pick-Up Times: In order for us to provide proper supervision for the safety of your child(ren), do not bring them into the Art Station any earlier than 10 minutes before the start of camp. Likewise, please pick them up no later than 10 minutes after the end of camp.

Sign In / Out: Campers must be signed in and out of their classrooms by an authorized adult each day. For sign out, ALL adults will be REQUIRED to show ID. If another adult will be picking up your child, they must be on the list of approved adults to pick, and show ID as well. If your child is of driving age, and still a minor, please send them with a note letting us know you have authorized them to sign in and/or leave on their own. Please keep in mind this policy is put in place for the safety of your children.

Non-Parental Pick-Up / Carpooling: If your child(ren) will be riding with a friend, neighbor, nanny or relative, please bring the front desk a note detailing the person's name, address, cell or home phone number and the dates the note is good for. All notes must be signed and dated. The person picking up your child(ren) must show ID when arriving to pick up.

Clothing: Art is sometimes messy! Children should wear comfortable, washable clothing suitable for painting (or drama). Also, NO FLIP-FLOPS OR CROCS, PLEASE! (These loose or open toed shoes can cause painful accidents.) Sandals that fasten securely to the foot or tennis shoes are acceptable, and preferred.

Snacks: There is time set aside in each camp session for your child(ren) to play outside and enjoy a snack and  drink. Please do not send items that need to be refrigerated. Water will be available. SNACKS CONTAINING NUT PRODUCTS ARE NOT ALLOWED AND WILL BE CONFISCATED, and returned upon departure at the end of the day.

Double-Session Campers: If your child(ren) is attending both a morning and an afternoon camp, they should bring a lunch. (The snack food rules apply to lunches.) Campers will be supervised during this time.

Artwork Pick-Ups: Art projects often take more than one day to complete, so all your child(ren)'s work will remain at The Art Station until Friday. Each student will choose one piece of art per week to be displayed in The Art Station gallery, where it will be displayed until the final summer camp art show reception called ART-Ragious! on August 8th.

*Clay Handbuilding camps and Pottery on the Wheel classes: Participants will need to wear old clothes (seriously, clay doesn't come out), and bring an old towel (that no one ever wants to see again). Please bring a medium size box with your child(ren)'s name and date of the camp/class written on the box. This will be used to box up all of their creations about 2 weeks after their camp/class when everything has come out of the kiln. If you happen to have tools from a previous camp/class, feel free to bring them, otherwise we will have a class set for them to use.

Donations: Finally, here's list of "found" objects that would be highly useful for camp/class: toilet tissue tubes, paper towel tubes, sponges, paper plates, egg cartons and clean plastic containers.
This facility is supported by the Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. Department. Visit their site.
